  1. #goals

With 2017 well underway, it is a great time to check in with the goals you made for the New Year. Studies show that early February typically marks a decline in motivation, especially when it comes to resolutions or fitness goals. With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of healthy choices to inspire a little extra encouragement. These snack alternatives are some great options to help keep you on track.

Ferris’ most popular mix, Cherries, Berries and Nuts, is a great snacking alternative. This mix offers a delicious blend of dried cherries & cranberries, cashews, pecans, and almonds. It’s great by itself, or added as a topping on your yogurt. Try the heart healthy raw version to get even more of the health benefits.

  3. Trust Building - New Location!

Construction is well underway at our Trust Building location on the corner of Ottawa and Pearl in downtown Grand Rapids. Our staff is working hard to prepare for the grand opening, and we’re proud to announce the manager of our new coffee shop, Jessica Coles! If you’ve been around much, you’ve probably met Jess at our West Side location, but in case you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting her yet, here’s a little Q & A with her!

Q – Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’ve been working at Ferris for just over two years, and before that I worked for five years as a barista and assistant manager for JP’s Coffee in Holland. Working in coffee quickly became a passion and career goal for me, especially after attending Coffee Fest and seeing the many... continue reading →

  5. Project Compost: A Sustainability Movement

From the moment I was hired into Ferris I felt as though I stepped into a tornado of creativity, innovation, and a fearless attitude toward change. Things are constantly being critiqued, rebuilt and improved upon within this company. I can say from personal experience that there are no ideas that go unheard or unappreciated.

When I noticed that all of our coffee grounds and filters were going directly from the coffee shop into the landfill, I did not have to twist many arms to put composting practices into action. Don’t get me wrong, definite strides were already being taken in the realm of sustainability at Ferris. On top of recycling our paper, plastic, and cardboard company-wide, I discovered that we work with Adela Rose Farm to transform food waste from the production facility into livestock feed. Ferris nut roasting oil... continue reading →
