Griffins Hockey Gets a Boost with Ferris Coffee

Ferris Coffee Co. has been lucky to work with some amazing partners within Grand Rapids over the years. Now we are excited to add yet another wonderful ally in the community, the Van Andel Arena! Located in the heart of downtown, they've been serving the city since 1996, hosting a vast number of entertainment acts from Disney On Ice, the Detroit Pistons, Paul McCartney, WWE, Justin Timberlake and many more. It has become a driving force in helping Grand Rapids become a place on the map as an entertainment destination. 

And of course, the arena is also home to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Founded in 1996, the Griffins have been playing in the American Hockey League since 2001. Molding and strengthening players that sometimes go onto the NHL- former Griffins have even gone onto win the Stanley Cup! The team has had their own success, becoming Calder Cup Champions in 2013 and 2017. Now this year, we take back the Cup, but first we gotta fill ours with some coffee...good coffee. 

Hot coffee and hockey have been hand-in-hand for decades. It makes sense, right? Rising early for practice, chilly ice rinks, and a solid pick-me-up from a freshly brewed cup of caffeine to jolt you awake. According to a Washington Post article, "This generation of players is turning to coffee more as an energy source and way to focus. The quality of the coffee has vastly improved, too." 

Players and fans can get their fix throughout the season. Ferris Coffee Co. will have both hot brewed coffee and Ferris Coffee Nitro Cold Brew on tap available for all Van Andel Arena events and Griffins games- perfect for those $2 beer & dog nights. We are elated to be the exclusive coffee served in concessions, dining, events, and in the Griffins offices and locker rooms (maybe a little decaf in the visitor's locker room). You will also see us in arena signage so look around to find us and keep your eyes on the big screen where you might catch an in-game commercial with Griff himself!

We are so excited for this opportunity not only to strengthen community partnerships but also for being the first local company to receive official arena coffee sponsorship. So get out there and grab a cold brew, eh?
