Huye Mountain Coffee comes from Rwanda. David Rubanzangabo founded Huye Mountain washing station in 2011 with the vision to “be a leading player and preferred choice for customer satisfaction in the international premium coffee market.” Rubanzangabo began producing coffee after studying agronomy and working in the country’s agricultural sector. He taught many small producers about coffee farming for several years before deciding to begin his own business. Located on the slopes of Huye Mountain in South Rwanda, he owns two washing stations that serves over 1,300 local farmers. JNP Coffee was founded in 2012 by native Burundian Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian. Jeanine also founded the nonprofit Burundi Friends International, which has supported women coffee farmers since 2013 in Burundi, one of the world’s poorest countries. Social impact is at the heart of her work. Both organizations focus on gender equity by educating women farmers on high-quality coffee production and providing them with leadership and financial literacy trainings. We have a couple of Costa Rican coffees launching this week (Herbazu & Los Angeles). The coffees are Honey Processed, which is all the rage in Costa Rica. A unique process that doesn’t actually involved honey or bees. So what the heck is it?  Honey processing is one of the many ways mills process their coffee cherries.
